How to Care for Your Reed Diffuser

A Kadnse reed diffuser will fragrance your home for up to three months without any intervention. But there are a few things that will help it perform better and last longer.

Flip the reeds once a week

The dry end of the reed goes into the oil. The saturated end comes out into the air. This simple rotation refreshes the fragrance throw — you will notice the difference within minutes. Do not flip more than once a week; over-rotation accelerates evaporation and shortens the life of the diffuser.

Position matters

Place your diffuser where air circulates naturally — near a door, in a hallway, close to a heating vent in winter. Avoid direct sunlight, which degrades the fragrance oil and fades the label. Avoid placing it directly beneath an air conditioning unit, which will accelerate evaporation without dispersing the scent effectively.

Do not add water or alcohol

Some people attempt to extend a diffuser by diluting the remaining oil. This weakens the fragrance and can cause the oil to separate. When the oil is finished, the diffuser is finished. Replace it, or keep the bottle as a vessel for something else.

The reeds themselves

Rattan reeds become saturated and clogged over time. If you notice the fragrance weakening despite regular flipping, the reeds may have reached the end of their useful life. Replace them with fresh reeds — not the same ones, rinsed.

How long it lasts

A 200ml Kadnse reed diffuser lasts approximately three months in a standard-sized room. In smaller, enclosed spaces it will last longer. In large, open-plan areas, consider two diffusers placed at opposite ends of the room.
